All ready for change?

Uranus in Taurus: Shift Happens With Collaboration

What’s all the fuss about Uranus moving into Taurus? Well, shift happens! Astrologers get terribly excited when one of the planets beyond the so-called “classics” are about to change signs. The reason for all the excitement is because the “outer” planets have considerably longer orbits, meaning they stay in zodiacal signs much longer than the others. Take Uranus for example. With an orbit of about 84 years, Uranus takes about 8 years to move through a given sign. For the past 8 years as Uranus transited through Aries, we’ve seen an exponential rise in self promotion, including “selfies”, self publishing, […]

Jonathan Cainer surrounded by the colour that defined him

Tribute to Jonathan Cainer

I can’t believe it’s been two years since the death of Jonathan Cainer on 2 May 2016. Many astrologers — as well as many fans and admirers — were affected by his passing. As my own children grew up with his and as he played such a huge role in shaping my life, I still find it very difficult to talk about him. But Jon still drops in for a visit every now and again. He still tells me I worry far more than I should. I get the impression he might be impressed with what I’m doing. As the […]

Playing God

Herschel, Uranus and Mary Shelley’s Vision of Horror

“Herschel, Uranus and Mary Shelley’s Vision of Horror” was  originally published in “The International Astrologer”, Aries 2009 issue for ISAR.  It was re-published in “Astrology Quarterly”, (Vol. 79, No 2) for The Astrological Lodge of London The article was updated in late 2016 with a corrected chart for the discovery of Uranus for an astrology lecture in Portugal and was re-formated on 14 May 2018, the day before Uranus ingressed into the sign or Taurus. “We are about to unfold the story of Frankenstein, a man of science who sought to create a man after his own image without reckoning upon […]

Algol and the British Royal Family

All Change in the House of Windsor?

Could the fixed star Algol and the ingress of Uranus into Taurus in May 2018 herald change in the British Royal Family? Once both the “heir and the spare” are married, could the current Queen of England finally be ready to hand over the reins? Looking at the important dates of Royal upheavals, Alex Trenoweth will explore the possibility of the beginning of the era of a new British monarch as Uranus moves into Taurus on 15 May 2018 on the very day the New Moon is conjunct the fixed star Algol. Astrology Research

End of Season for Cherry Picking

Astrology Research that engages sceptics is very rare. If it does exist, then Astrologers are dismissed by their critics for their lack of precision, non-replicable results and minuscule databases. I wanted to address these criticisms and show other astrologers how they can too. This first hand version of the events leading up to publication of my research on adolescent behaviour and lunar phases appeared in the Autumn equinox 2017 edition of The Career Astrologer published by The Organization for Professional Astrologers and is posted here with grateful permission. My research into adolescent behaviour and lunar phases first made the astrology headlines with […]

Childhood Education: A study by a teacher and astrologer

This article on astrology and education originally appeared in Dell Horoscope, the world’s leading astrology magazine. My new article “When a Flower Speaks” appears in the May/June 2018 issue. Dismissed for their lack of precision, non-replicable results and miniscule databases, modern day astrologers are often ridiculed by their skeptics. Can astrologers step up to the scientific plate or will they go down with the pseudoscience ship? In my role as a schoolteacher, the bias against being an astrologer was so great that I was actually threatened with dismissal should any parent complain about my interests in the subject. As I […]
